The Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, has recently launched the Citizen Smart Card Scheme 2023 in Mandvi Municipality, as part of the state government’s efforts to create a comprehensive database of families and provide efficient services through a single card. The inauguration took place via video link from Gandhinagar, where the Chief Minister also unveiled the municipality’s new administrative building and auditorium. This article will provide you with information on how to apply online for the Citizen Smart Card in Gujarat.
Citizen Smart Card is a Digital Initiative
The Citizen Smart Card Scheme 2023 is a digital initiative by the Gujarat government aimed at ensuring a corruption-free and transparent administration. The state government has already made 35 services available through digital platforms in 8,000 villages, and the launch of the Citizen Smart Card Scheme in Mandvi Municipality is expected to serve as an inspiration for other local bodies to adopt similar measures. While the details of the online application process are not available. It is anticipated that after the official launch, registration forms will be invited through the state government’s official website, https://www.digitalgujarat.gov.in/, or a dedicated portal created for this purpose. Once the online application process commences, we will provide updates here.
Under the Citizen Smart Card Scheme, a database of 700 families residing in Mandvi town has been created initially. This database will include details such as residents’ Aadhar card, ration card, election card, and recent photographs on the Citizen Smart Cards. It is important to note that all these details will be collected of the families.
The data collected from the families will be stored in the central government’s digital locker. Once the data is ready, citizens will only need to carry the smart card to avail themselves of various civic services. These services may include obtaining income certificates, BPL certificates, and others. It is estimated that approximately 7,000 families will benefit from the Citizen Smart Card services.
Mokla Mane Samvad Programme
In addition to the Citizen Smart Card Scheme, the Gujarat Chief Minister also conducts interactive deliberations with cattle owners from different districts as part of the Mokla Mane Samvad Programme. This initiative aims to maximize milk yield and conserve native Gir and Kankrej cow breeds to the level of Kamdhenu. The Gujarat government treats animal husbandry on par with agriculture and has implemented strong laws to effectively curb cow slaughter. The state is self-sufficient in milk production due to the efforts of cattle owners and dairy farming, which has also helped sustain the rural economy.
